I had been planning a gliding camp to Temora since last April and looking forward to it since last year, but then it rained and didnt stop. Ah well....We came home early and pressed on with the build. Progress continued on the lower radius skins but has stalled due to a lack of clecos. However we have made good progress with the LH wing. The trailing edge is now completely drilled off, this was a little tricky working the skin around the contours. The effort was worth it as the skin profile turned out great. We next started on the leading edge inboard skin. Progress has continued with the rudder and vertical stab assembly, I hope to get some pictures soon. Visitors to site have included, Peter Champness (Beaufort Gliding Club President), Malcolm Crampton (Club electronics guru!) and Chris Trewern (Composite Structures technician, or just likes smelling the glue!!!). Working on the Hornet since the last blog has been: Gordon Pope, Peter Buskens, Alex Kreti, Jim Henkal & myself.- Man hours to date:

The LH wing leading edge was completely drilled off shortly after the last blog. This left some fitting of the wing root upper skin panels. A support stiffener for this panel was fabricated to suit the required radius. Chris Trewern helped out by painting the LH wing structure and skin panels for us. Next was finalising the wiring installation for the lights and the fuel tank sender unit. The fuel line was installed. Rob Benton assembled the seat frame and Gordon made a start on how to assemble the aileron. Finally we reached a stage where the LH wing was assembled.
